Tequesta official, firefighter named to Jake the Bike Man board

Jack the Bike Man, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing refurbished bicycles to children and adults in need, recenlty announced the appointment of Jayson French to its board of directors. French, a West Palm Beach firefighter and elected councilman for the Village of Tequesta, will serve a two-year term, bringing a unique blend of public service, personal passion and firsthand connection to the organization’s mission. French is an avid cyclist whose three kids all grew up riding bikes from Jack the Bike Man. Based in West Palm Beach, Jack the Bike Man donates thousands of new and refurbished bikes per year to those in need.

Women’s education group adds four board members

The Women’s Red Apple Foundation of Palm Beach County is pleased to announce the appointment of four new board members. They are Dymond Franklin of IBM, Markeisha Johnson from PBC Black Business Investment Corporation, Pilar Taylor at Florida Atlantic University and Ingrid Van Alstyne of the Hanley Foundation. The foundation stands as a vital resource for educational equity in our county, uniquely supporting women from diverse backgrounds — including high school graduates, adult learners returning after an education gap, and previous scholarship recipients continuing their academic journeys. Since its inception in 2003, the foundation has awarded over $534,600 in scholarships and 17 laptops to 368 women in Palm Beach County, with nearly 30% going to adults aged 22 and older.

PBSC foundation welcomes new CEO, VP

Palm Beach State College has appointed Andria Cunningham as chief executive officer of the Foundation for Palm Beach State College and vice president of advancement, following a national search. In this dual role, Cunningham will oversee all philanthropic initiatives for the college, develop donor engagement strategies, and guide alumni relations and external partnerships supporting student success and institutional growth.

Eyecare institute welcomes ocular disease specialist

See Vision Eye Institute recently welcomed Kylie Barto, OD, to its growing clinical team. With a strong foundation in ocular disease management and post-surgical care, Dr. Barto expands the practice’s ability to deliver timely, personalized, and outcomes-focused care across Palm Beach County. See Vision Eye Institute was established in January 2024 to enhance access to advanced cataract surgical care in the community. Next-generation technology and unmatched patient-focused care are what make them different. 

Boca Raton attorney named to Jewish lawyers association post

Shapiro, Blasi, Wasserman & Hermann has announced that Daniel Genossar, an associate attorney at the firm, has been named outreach director of the Jewish Lawyers Association of Palm Beach County Young Lawyers Division board of directors. As outreach director, Genossar networks and liaises with other organizations, firms, and companies to develop community relationships and partnerships with the association.

Local CEO reappointed to board of multi-state group of senior living providers

Rachel Blumberg, president and CEO of Toby & Leon Cooperman Sinai Residences in Boca Raton, has been reappointed to the board of trustees of LeadingAge Southeast. Her reappointment, announced at the 2025 LeadingAge Southeast Convention in Orlando (July 20–24), extends her term through 2028 and marks her second consecutive term with the organization, the region’s most respected association representing senior living providers across Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

Community Foundation names vice chairs of advisory council

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties has named Stacey Hallberg and April Hicks as the new vice chairs of its philanthropic advisory council, a respected network of professionals who provide strategic guidance and thought leadership to strengthen the foundation’s work across the region. The Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that leads partnerships with donors, nonprofit organizations, and community members to address the region’s chronic and emerging issues. Since 1972, the foundation has distributed nearly $250 million in grants and scholarships aimed at closing the area’s opportunity gaps.
