The Samsung Human Resources Development Center announced on Nov. 12 that it has introduced a next-generation training program utilizing Samsung Electronics’ headset-type extended reality (XR) device, the “Galaxy XR.”
Samsung Group plans to use the Galaxy XR for the annual training of more than 20,000 employees, from new recruits to senior executives.
Starting this month, Samsung has applied artificial intelligence(AI) and XR technology-based content to five training programs — meditation, Samsung history experience, leadership, foreign languages, and debate. Trainees wearing the Galaxy XR will conduct customized learning by topic in a virtual space through intuitive interactions such as voice, gaze, and gesture.
Through the new training program, employees can experience Samsung Group’s roots by wearing the Galaxy XR and returning to the time of the founding of Samsung Sanghoe in 1938, exploring the inside of the company in its early history. Experiencing extended reality through wearable devices can provide a higher level of immersion compared to conventional training and is expected to offer trainees opportunities for active exploration and learning.
Role-playing exercises are also possible, allowing trainees to practice various skills in realistic, simulated situations with AI avatars. In virtual spaces, they can rehearse presentations or conduct meetings, and even hold one-on-one interviews with AI colleagues. After training, participants can receive immediate, personalized feedback and detailed reports through AI technology.
The Samsung Human Resources Development Center plans to identify new AI and XR-related content and enhance existing programs by incorporating feedback from an external advisory board composed of education and content experts as well as from trainees. In addition, the center will continue collaborating with Samsung Electronics to develop training content utilizing next-generation XR devices.
