Okikiade Sodiq Adebambo is the Chief Executive Officer and owner of the popular OXL studios in Ibadan, a photography and lifestyle brand that has become the toast of the social elite across the South-West. In an effort to revolutionise the nightlife scene, hr recently announced the launch of his lounge and club, opening this weekend. He spoke to ROTIMI IGE about his journey so far and why he decided to invest in the entertainment sector.
You are a known brand in photography. What kickstarted your interest professionally?
I have always been passionate about entertainment and genuinely enjoy connecting with people, sharing their thoughts, and creating lasting memories. This inspired me to think, why not help capture people’s joyful moments and cherished memories so they have something tangible to remind them of those special times? That idea became the foundation for starting our photography business.
What would you say are your unique abilities in that space?
OXL Studios has built a reputation for excellence, consistently delivering high-quality work that exceeds client expectations. Our professional team members are not only highly skilled but also deeply committed to maintaining the highest standards in every project. We pride ourselves on punctuality and ensuring prompt delivery of all assignments, meeting deadlines without compromising on quality. These attributes, among others, have solidified our position as a trusted and reliable name in the industry.
You are currently gearing up to open a lifestyle lounge in Ibadan. What prompted you to invest in entertainment?
As I mentioned earlier, entertainment has always been a passion of mine, a field that truly resonates with who I am. I’ve always envisioned myself creating memorable experiences for others, but I understood the importance of timing. I patiently waited for the right moment to turn this dream into reality, ensuring that when the opportunity came, I could pursue it with the focus, resources, and vision necessary to bring it to life successfully.
Can you tell us what your outfit is bringing to influence nightlife in the city?
Our lounge is located beside Command Secondary School, Apata, Ibadan. We are dedicated to delivering a premium entertainment experience within a setting that is not only enjoyable but also carefully curated for comfort and safety. Our space is designed to provide a serene and welcoming atmosphere where guests can relax, socialize, and create lasting memories. By prioritising security and ambience, we ensure that every visitor enjoys a truly elevated and worry-free experience.
Many entertainers in the city always complain of a lack of support from stakeholders. Will you be offering your platform to them as support?
Absolutely, that’s the essence of what we stand for. Across all our platforms, we have consistently demonstrated unwavering support and commitment to excellence. It’s a core value that defines us, and there’s no reason why this venture should be any different. We remain dedicated to maintaining the same level of enthusiasm and reliability, ensuring that every initiative aligns with our standard of excellence and support.

What other plans have you for Detty December?
The grand opening of our lounge is set to take place between the sixth and eighth of December, promising an unforgettable celebration of luxury and entertainment. This timing is particularly significant to me, as December 7 marks my birthday. To make the occasion even more special, I decided to align the grand opening with this personal milestone, symbolising a moment of growth and new beginnings.
I don’t want to reveal too much because words alone can’t capture the experience we’ve prepared. You simply have to be there to immerse yourself in the premium vibe and enjoy every moment. It’s going to be an extraordinary December celebration like no other!
How do you relax?
I must admit, I’m a bit of a workaholic! Whenever I’m around, I always find myself immersed in something productive; there’s never a dull moment for me. However, when it comes to unwinding, my favourite ways to relax are either playing a game of pool or snooker, which helps me clear my mind, or taking a trip to get away from it all. Travelling allows me to truly disconnect and enjoy some solitude, giving me the space to recharge where no one can disturb my flow.
Now that you are in the nightlife business, what happens to your photography brand?
We’re here to stay, and we’re not going anywhere. This new venture will not interfere with our photography business or any of our other enterprises. Instead, it represents an exciting expansion of our brand while maintaining our unwavering commitment to the quality and success of all our existing operations. Our dedication to excellence remains strong across every platform we operate, ensuring continuity and growth in everything we do.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your memories growing up?
Growing up was quite challenging for me. I spent my childhood in various parts of Ibadan. I completed my primary education at Anwaru Islam Primary School, Eleyele, and then moved to Molete, where I attended St. David Secondary School for my secondary education. During this time, I lived with my grandmother and often accompanied her to the major markets in Ibadan for business after school hours.
Eventually, I decided to venture out independently to start hustling. I sold various items on the streets of Ibadan, honestly, if there were an award for the best hawker, I’d probably win it! In 2014, I set up a game and football betting shop, which paved the way for me to establish OXL Studios in 2019.
